خبر واگذاری سرپرستی IESF به شاهزاده فیصل پس از تصمیم ولاد مارینسکو مبنی بر کناره گیری از این سمت منتشر شد. مارینسکو معتقد بود که گسترش صنعت نوپای ورزش الکترونیک نیاز به فداکاری و تجربه زیادی دارد که شاهزاده فیصل در طی این سالها به خوبی از پس آن بر آمده است و می تواند با خیالی آسوده این سمت را به او واگذار کند.
فیصل بن بندر به دلیل سابقه اجرایی در سطح جهانی در حوزه ورزش الکترونیک فعلا به عنوان سرپرست فدراسیون جهانی انتخاب شد تا در نشست آتی این مجمع که به زودی برگزار خواهد شد رئیس جدید فدراسیون جهانی توسط رای گیری انتخاب شود.
مارینسکو پس از واگذاری سمت خود به شاهزاده فیصل گفت: «من معتقدم آنچه که ما اکنون به آن نیاز داریم، اتحاد کامل ورزش‌های الکترونیک در سطح بین‌المللی است. اتحادی که باید از ناشران بازی شروع شود و تا برگزار کنندگان المپیک ادامه پیدا کند. من معتقدم که شخص مناسبی که ما را به این وحدت و اتحاد هدایت می کند، شاهزاده فیصل خواهد بود.»
وی افزود: «او فردی است که من برایش احترام زیادی قائلم و از او قدردانی می کنم که در هوای ورزش های الکترونیک نفس می کشد و تا پای جانش در این راه زحمت می کشد. دستاوردهای او در عربستان سعودی به عنوان یک رئیس فدراسیون فوق العاده و غیرقابل انکار است. از طرفی موقعیت بالای او در فدراسیون جهانی از او فردی با تجربه ساخته است.»
فیصل بن بندر نیز پس از دریافت این سمت بیان داشت: «من از اعتماد اعضای فدراسیون بین المللی به اینجانب بسیار خوشحالم و امیدوارم بتوانم در مسیر موفقی که ولاد مارینسکو پیش از این ایجاد کرده است گام بردارم. من بسیار مشتاق فرصت‌هایی هستم که می‌توانم با آنها دنیای ورزش الکترونیک را هر چه بیشتر ارتقا دهم.»
